Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Nicolas Cablé, a blacksmith and cutler who continues a 34-generation family tradition. For him, blacksmithing is much more than a profession: it's a true passion, a living heritage passed down from father to son for centuries.

Nicolas's story begins in the heart of the war effort, when his grandfather is forced to move away from the forge... But in his spare time he helps out with the surrounding farmers, repairing tractor parts, forging tool heads, knives...

The transmission of know-how

It was at his side that Nicolas, still a teenager, forged his first knife. A decisive moment that marked the beginning of a consuming passion for steel, the anvil, and the hammer. However, the 90s did not yet see the emergence of the cutlery profession. Nicolas continued his studies as an electrical engineer and embarked on a brilliant career in industry. But that was without counting on fate. During a birthday, one of his cousins, envious of the famous knife he had forged, rekindled the flame of his passion. From then on, the decision was made: he would become a blacksmith and cutler.

Today, Nicolas Cablé reinvents the classics, revisiting great standards like "le mineur" or "le Thiers with mirabelle plum handle." Each knife he creates is a work of art, composed of a Damascus steel blade whose unique pattern makes each piece irreplaceable. But what further distinguishes his work is the small Lorraine cross engraved on the ricasso, his personal signature, symbolizing his roots and commitment to his terroir.

Nicolas also stands out for his environmental commitment: he only uses local or recycled wood for his handles, thus combining his ancestral know-how with a responsible approach.
