Day 1: Bois-le-Prêtre, between nature and memory
Nestled in the heart of a dense forest, Bois-le-Prêtre welcomes you for an immersion into one of the deadliest sectors of the First World War. Here, the woods still echo with the courage of the "Wolves," those soldiers of the 73rd Infantry Division who fought tirelessly in this strategic sector located between Pont-à-Mousson and Saint-Mihiel.
Now reclaimed by nature, this historical site can be explored from the Maison du Père Hilarion , the starting point for four hiking trails. Along the way, you'll encounter the remains of trenches, collapsed shelters, and numerous commemorative stelae. A profoundly moving and immersive experience.

Don't miss the Carmelite Cross , an iconic monument of the site. Two soldiers, frozen in stone, support a large cross: a poignant tribute to the suffering of the men who fell here. The original wooden cross, carefully preserved in the Pétant cemetery , recalls the soldiers' attachment to this symbol.
End this day of remembrance with a visit to the Pétant cemetery : more than 13,000 soldiers rest there, French, Polish, Soviet… a place of great dignity, conducive to contemplation.
Day 2: Disappeared village and international memory
This second day takes you to places that are more discreet, but just as powerful in their message.
Begin in Faye-en-Haye , a village frozen in time, destroyed during the Great War and never rebuilt. Wandering through its ruins, one can grasp the price paid by civilians, the pain of loss, and the power of memory. This silent place speaks to those who listen.
Then, we head towards Thiaucourt-Regniéville , where the majestic American Cemetery stands , a haven of peace dedicated to nearly 4,000 American soldiers who fell for freedom. Aligned with solemn precision, the white marble tombstones contrast with the green of the perfectly manicured lawns. Here, the silence is eloquent, and one's heart aches before such sacrifice.
