At Nicolas Cablé, we have been blacksmiths from father to son for 34 generations!
Unfortunately, the war effort forced his grandfather to move away from the forge. But in his spare time, he helped out with local farmers, repairing tractor parts, forging tool heads, knives, and more.
Much later, Nicolas observed him working, and was fascinated by steel, the anvil, the hammer... As a teenager, he forged his first knife with him. A passion was born!
But by the end of the 90s, cutlery wasn't a profession. So he turned to electrical engineering studies to pursue a brilliant career in industry.
It was during a cousin's birthday party, one who was envious of the famous knife, that Nicolas reconnected with forging. From then on, the desire was too strong, and he became a blacksmith and cutler!
Today, he is reviving old standards like "le mineur" or reinterpreting traditional knives to which he adds a mirabelle plum handle... All his knives are made of a Damascus steel blade whose pattern makes it unique, just like the small Lorraine cross engraved on the ricasso, the artist's signature. He also does not forget his environmental commitment by using only local or recycled woods.
